How do silver ions work?
When silver ions come into contact with bacteria on fabric, they interrupt the bacteria's ability to function and multiply. ZILK silk is treated with SILVADUR, DuPont's silver-ion technology that releases ions gradually over time. Based on SILVADUR testing, the treatment inhibits 99.9% of bacteria growth on the fabric surface, keeping ZILK pieces fresher between washes.
What does silk do for hair?
Silk's smooth surface reduces the friction that causes breakage, frizz and tangles overnight. Unlike cotton, silk doesn't absorb leave-in treatments, oils or styling products, so your products stay in your hair instead of being absorbed into the fabric. This also helps preserve blowouts, curls, braids and protective styles between washes.
What Does 'Momme' Refer To?
Momme (mm) is the standard measurement for silk weight, similar to how thread count is used for cotton. It refers to how many pounds 100 yards of silk weigh—so a higher momme means denser, heavier, more durable silk.
Most silk bedding uses 19 to 22 momme. ZILK uses 25 momme, which is denser and more durable than standard silk bedding and holds its finish longer wash after wash.
