HOW ZILK BEGAN
ZILK started in Amsterdam. Elizabeth Cook, a Physician Assistant practicing in dermatology and aesthetics, had been recommending silk pillowcases to her patients for years. When she couldn't find a product that met her standards, she set out to build one herself.
WHY SILK
Elizabeth had long recognized what silk could offer her patients: a smoother surface that reduces friction, helps the skin hold onto moisture, and treats hair more gently than cotton. She wanted a silk pillowcase made with the same standards she expected for every product in her practice.
THE BUILD
Working with her husband and business partner Alejandro, she sourced 25-momme, 6A grade mulberry silk and added SILVADUR™ silver-ion technology to keep the fabric cleaner between washes. The first ZILK product launched in the Netherlands.
TWO SISTERS. TWO COMPANIES. ONE BRAND.
When Elizabeth's sister Katharine joined the brand, she brought nearly twenty years of beauty media experience and a vision for bringing ZILK to the United States. Rather than ship internationally from one location, they decided to build ZILK in both markets, with local fulfillment, local shipping and local returns for customers on each side of the Atlantic.
Today ZILK operates as two independent companies:
ZILK (Netherlands) serves customers across Europe from a fulfillment hub in the Netherlands.
ZILK Sleep LLC (USA) serves customers across the United States from a fulfillment hub in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Each company maintains its own inventory, fulfillment partners and tax filings, and operates under the laws of its respective region.

While ZILK operates as two separate companies, we believe customers deserve a single consistent voice when they reach out. Inquiries from both regions are handled by a centralized support team at support@zilksleep.com. This is an intentional choice. It ensures the same standards of care, expertise and brand voice whether you're writing in from Amsterdam or Atlanta.
